Exegesis: Journal of Tafsir and Qur’anic Studies is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must agree to uphold these ethical principles.

1. Responsibilities of the Editors

  • Ensure fair, unbiased, and timely peer review and editorial decision-making process.

  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, citizenship, or political ideology.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclose any information to anyone other than those involved in the publication process.

  • Take appropriate action if ethical concerns arise with a submitted or published paper, including investigations and, if necessary, retraction or correction.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Submit only original works that are free from plagiarism, falsification, or fraudulent data.

  • Appropriately cite and acknowledge all sources and contributions of others.

  • Avoid submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously (no multiple, redundant, or concurrent submissions).

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

  • Ensure that all authors listed have significantly contributed to the work and that all who contributed are properly credited.

  • Cooperate with the editorial team in responding to peer review comments and making required revisions.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback on the scholarly merits and scientific value of the manuscript.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of the review process and not disclose any information about the manuscript.

  • Declare any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from reviewing any manuscript where such conflicts exist.

  • Alert the editor to any suspected plagiarism, duplication, or other ethical issues.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher (PT Anfana Pustaka Indonesia)

  • Support the editorial team in handling ethical issues and maintaining the integrity of the academic record.

  • Ensure that best practices in publication ethics are followed across all stages of the publishing process.

  • Work closely with editors to facilitate communication, archiving, and indexing services while preserving ethical standards.

5. Plagiarism and Misconduct Policy

Exegesis strictly prohibits plagiarism in all forms. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized material, fabricated data, or other forms of academic misconduct will be rejected or retracted, and the authors may be banned from future submissions. All submissions are subject to plagiarism screening using reliable detection tools.

6. Retraction and Correction Policy

Articles may be retracted if serious ethical violations are confirmed. Minor errors that do not affect the overall findings may be corrected with an erratum or corrigendum. The journal will follow COPE guidelines in handling all retraction and correction cases.
